Convertible

The Bristol 402 is a rare British luxury convertible produced by Bristol Cars from 1949 to 1950, with only 23 units built as a four-seat drophead coupé based on the 401 saloon. It featured elegant Carrozzeria Touring styling with faired-in headlamps, a low windscreen, and lightweight aluminium bodywork using Superleggera construction. Powered by a 2.0-litre BMW-derived straight-six engine producing 85 bhp, it offered a top speed of 97 mph and 0-60 mph in 15 seconds via a 4-speed manual gearbox. Suspension included independent fronts with transverse leaf springs and torsion bars at the rear, prioritising grand-touring comfort over outright sportiness. Around 13 examples survive today, making it one of the rarest post-war British GTs.
