Drophead

One of few 406 dropheads with a uniquely designed convertible hood.

Having already undergone an extensive restoration over the course of many years, this Bristol came to us with just one significant complaint; the roof. It had been designed by engineers rather than designers and as such was not only out of proportion but also out of touch with the rest of the car.

The client commissioned us to design and engineer a new roof with the aim that it would be sleek and more streamlined in context to the car. We were informed that although the Bristol was originally designed to accommodate passengers in the rear seats, the client did not consider this a necessary feature and we were able to take that into consideration with our designs. Designs were mocked up, sent out for approval and adjusted accordingly.

Part of the rear bulkhead needed to be cut out to accommodate the new design and structure. During this process many more mock ups were made to ensure the design would work. The finished result was a slick contour with a smaller rear window that was suitably vogue. Even though the roof was a pretty major project on its own, we didn’t stop there. The exterior was give a fresh coat of paint and the engine was refurbished too.
