Coupe

Symbolic of true 1960’s Italian style.

The 1970 Lancia Flavia 2000 Coupe that rolled into the workshop at HC Classics was in obvious need of more than a little TLC. An extensive restoration was what the doctor ordered.

Upon examination of the badly applied gold paintwork it was discovered it had originally been an unremarkable shade of burgundy. The client was a fan of the gold, so the bodywork was stripped down and repainted for a flawless finish. A full re-chroming was carried out to complete the job.

The perishing seals around the doors and windows were all replaced as well as all the bushes including the subframe bush, track arm bushes, the suspension, engine mount and every single shock. The suspensions arms were then sand-blasted and powder coated to strengthen and improve appearance. Every light was upgraded to LED as not only are they brighter (therefore safer) but they are also far less of a drain on the battery.

The Flavia, at that time, had no working sound system so a basic one was installed.

There was significant damage to the front bonnet which required HC Classics to re-manufacture a brand-new air inlet as it was not a part that was readily available.

The engine was prescribed an entire rebuild so was taken apart down to every individual nut and bolt and painstaking, yet lovingly, put back together with the necessary parts replaced or refurbished.

The same process was repeated for the gearbox.

As with most classics there can be a somewhat primitive resonance encountered whilst driving. Bitumen based panels were installed for soundproofing, providing a much-appreciated upgrade to the driver’s experience. This was coupled with a custom lowering of the seats to the client’s specification as well as the manufacturing of a new steering wheel boss to accommodate this and provide the client with the ultimate comfort.

The interior was finished with a soft, cream leather together with brand-new Wilton carpets in olive green.
